Martha Ann (Greenhalgh) Ahmed, lovingly known as "Mom," "Kid," "Nana Honey," and "Auntie Martha," passed away peacefully on February 5, 2025, in her home surrounded by her family. She was 67 years old.
Born on June 15, 1957, in Pawtucket, Martha was the cherished daughter of the late Joseph and Aline Greenhalgh. She grew up in Pawtucket, RI, along with her siblings, Bill, Joseph, and Arline. Her childhood laid the foundation for a life filled with dedication to family, community, and friendship.
Martha shared a remarkable 40-year marriage with her devoted husband, Keith Ahmed. Together they built a life centered on love, family and friendship. She was the proud mother of two daughters: Brittany Tavares (Phil) and Kelsey Theroux (Peter). Her grandson Tyler Tavares was the light of her life, bringing her endless joy and pride. Martha also leaves behind her brothers Bill Greenhalgh (Carol) and Joseph Greenhalgh, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will forever cherish her memory.
A woman of boundless energy and enthusiasm, Martha served as a production manager for J.T. Inman for 49 years. She was also deeply involved in her community. As a quintessential SOSD Dance Mom for many years, she supported her daughters’ and friend’s daughters’ endeavors with unwavering dedication, cheering them on from the audience with pride.
Martha served as a baseball coach for Woodlawn Little League and softball coach for Darlington Girls Softball League, where she inspired young athletes with her encouragement and passion for the game. She was a volunteer for the Distinguished Young Women of Rhode Island scholarship program for many years. Martha was also a member of the American Lung Association’s Providence Lung Force Walk planning committee for the past 6 years.
Martha’s friendships were as enduring as they were meaningful. Her best friend of over 50 years, Jacie Rei, was a constant source of companionship and shared memories that spanned decades. She will be remembered by a very large circle of friends and family for her unwavering strength, loyalty and ability to make all feel welcomed.
Martha knew everyone. Her children fondly remember arguing over who had to be the one to go food shopping with her on Sunday afternoons because she ran into a different friend every single week.. and it would “take forever!”
In addition to her parents, Martha was predeceased by her sister Arline Berouty. Their bond remains an enduring part of Martha’s legacy.
Martha’s warmth, humor, and devotion to those she loved will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those whose lives she touched so profoundly.
Her family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to all of the wonderful family, friends, and a special nurse who have helped to guide, support and care for Martha and family throughout the years. Your love and kindness have not gone unnoticed.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, February 9th from 3:00 – 6:00pm at Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave., Lincoln.
